Josh Christensen is an artist living in Austin, TX, whose bold screenprints straddle the border between art and design. As an undergrad, Josh was selected to participate in the Norfolk Summer School of Art at Yale University where he worked on advancing his printmaking process. His art is also featured nationally and internationally in collections such as the El Minia University Creative Center in Minia, Egypt.
Originally from Milwaukee, WI, Josh studied printmaking and design at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD), a combination that directly influenced his mark-making style. His work is characterized by a combination of handmade marks and digital processes printed on paper as singular works or installations.
Through his work, Josh explores the everyday struggles of the human experience. He is especially interested in the myriad ways that humanity has learned to communicate in the post-Internet, media landscape. Notable bands such as Halfloves and Cloud Nothings have utilized Josh’s use of muted tones and dramatic marks on their album covers and posters to express their hazy, post-punk sounds.
When Josh isn’t making prints, he can be seen watching the Packers and enjoying a cold beer...a favorite pastime of every Wisconsinite.
